No matter what you’re going through, never lose the faith! NFL Hall of Famer legend Deion Sanders is an open book, and he’s been documenting his journey to recovery after he had a foot injury last year. Today he and his longtime girlfriend, Tracey Edmonds, shared a video of how he recently had to get two toes on his left foot amputated following surgery last September. USA Today reports Coach Prime was diagnosed with three femoral arterial blood clots, which doctors categorized as life-threatening.
The blood clots were severe. Reports state the blood clots in the coach’s calf ran the entire length of his leg, and he developed compartment syndrome. If you’re not familiar with the syndrome, it involves muscle pressure reaching levels that could limit the flow of blood and oxygen. Following the video, Coach Prime shared a lengthy caption on Instagram.
“I told y’all we were gonna show it all in this documentary, and that’s what this is. I got to warn ya. This ain’t a pretty sight! I may have lost a couple of soldiers in the battle, but I never lost my faith in God!” He continued, “I endured a lot while I was in the hospital during our historic season, but I am so thankful for GOD being there to help pull me through. I am so thankful for those who sent messages of faith and those who visited me during this troubling time.”
Although Coach Prime was dealing with a foot injury, he still led the Tigers to win the SWAC championship. According to the Clarion-Ledger, Jackson State won 27-10 over Prairie View, making it was the first conference championship for JSU since 2007.
