<p>Derek Chauvin, one of the officers responsible for the death of George Floyd has been released from prison in Oak Park Heights.</p>
<p><em><a href="https://www.fox9.com/news/derek-chauvin-released-from-minnesota-prison">Fox 9</a></em> reports that a Minnesota Department of Corrections spokesperson confirmed Chauvin is no longer in custody, and records show that he posted a $1 million bond.</p>
<p>Chauvin has been locked up behind bars since May as he awaited his trial for the death of George Floyd. As <em><a href="https://dev.theshaderoom.com/officer-who-killed-george-floyd-has-been-arrested-and-charged-with-third-degree-murder-update/">previously</a></em> mentioned, he was charged with third-degree murder and manslaughter.</p>
<p>The legal teams for all of the officers that were involved in George Floyd&#8217;s death have filed motions to have the trial moved out of Hennepin County to any other surrounding counties. They argue that the jury within Hennepin County have already been influenced by the media coverage surrounding the murder of George Floyd.</p>
<p>Back in September, the judge heard their legal teams&#8217; arguments to have the trial moved to a different location and to join the four cases into one and dismissing the cases altogether. The judge has since had 90 days to make a decision following their motions. At the moment a decision has not been made.</p>
<p>For those who have seen the heartbreaking video of George Floyd&#8217;s murder, you know that Chauvin was the officer that was seen kneeling on his neck.</p>
<p>For now, Chauvin along with Tou Thao, Thomas Lane, and J. Alexander Kueng are awaiting the trial which has been set for March 8th.</p>
<p>Thao, Lane, and Kueng previously posted bond and were released from prison as well.</p>
