<p>DMX&#8217;s family shut down <a href="https://www.tmz.com/2021/04/12/dmx-family-warns-scammers-raise-money-funeral/">floating rumors</a> regarding the late rapper&#8217;s masters, finances and merchandise, according to TMZ.</p>
<p class="p1">The family addressed a now viral rumor that claimed Jay-Z and Beyoncé allegedly planned to purchase and regift DMX&#8217;s masters to his children.</p>
<p>The masters rumor was shared by multiple Twitter accounts including Phenomenal Reporters (@phenoreporters).</p>
<p>&#8220;Jay Z is doing another legendary act for the culture of hip hop,&#8221; the tweet states. &#8220;Jay Z and Beyonce are buying back DMX&#8217;s masters for $10,000,000.00 and will give to his 17 kids for free.&#8221;</p>
<p class="p1">According to DMX&#8217;s family, this masters rumor has no merit and his masters &#8220;aren&#8217;t in play&#8221; with the music and business moguls. Although, Def Jam has some masters under control, DMX&#8217;s masters are not owned directly by Jay-Z, TMZ reported.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span></p>
<p class="p1">The family also wants &#8220;fans to be wary&#8221; about scammers soliciting money for funeral expenses and others selling DMX merchandise. At this time, DMX&#8217;s family is not raising capital or selling merchandise.</p>

<p>On April 9th, 2021, we unfortunately reported the passing of Earl &#8216;DMX&#8217; Simmons. He was 50 years old at the time. DMX reportedly experienced a drug overdose at his home one week prior to his passing. The overdose triggered a heart attack that <a href="https://dev.theshaderoom.com/dmx-passes-away-at-50/">led to the legend&#8217;s hospitalization</a> at White Plains Hospital in New York. After a week of monitoring, tests and life support, doctors could no longer determine any brain activity.</p>
<p>His family <a href="https://dev.theshaderoom.com/dmx-passes-away-at-50/">released a statement to XXL</a> confirming DMX&#8217;s passing and offering additional details.</p>
<p>“Earl was a warrior who fought till the very end,&#8221; the statement said. &#8220;He loved his family with all of his heart and we <a href="https://dev.theshaderoom.com/six-of-dmxs-most-inspirational-moments-that-touched-us-all-video/">cherish the times</a> we spent with him. Earl’s music inspired countless fans across the world and his iconic legacy will live forever.”</p>
<p>The statement closed with a word of appreciation for the &#8220;love and support&#8221; during an &#8220;incredibly difficult time.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;Please respect our privacy as we grieve the loss of our brother, father, uncle, and the man the word knew as DMX,&#8221; the statement continued. &#8220;We will share information about his memorial service once details are finalized.”</p>
