If you all don’t know by now, Donald Glover isn’t your typical play by the rules type of guy. As if he didn’t shake things up enough with his chart shattering #ThisIsAmerica single, he is now in the running to play Willy Wonka in a new Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory spin-off.
According to NME, Donald is up against Ryan Gosling and Ezra Miller to play the chocolate factory owner. You’re probably thinking, “how many more remakes of this film do we need?!” This movie is said to be headed in a different direction than the traditional chocolate factory films.
We hear it is a prequel which explores Willy Wonka’s origin story and how he ended up the head honcho of the chocolate empire.
Warner Bros. is said to have brought in director Paul King, Harry Potter producer David Heyman and screenwriter Simon Rich to work on the project.
Who remembers when someone suggested that Donald should play Spider Man?! This should be interesting!
