In response to the Trump administration’s “zero tolerance” immigration policy, Auntie Maxine is encouraging people to confront members of his cabinet. At a rally in Los Angeles this past weekend, the congresswoman told her supporters to “tell them they’re not welcome anymore, anywhere.”
“Let’s make sure we show up wherever we have to show up,” Maxine Waters said, according to CNN. “And if you see anybody from that Cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd. And you push back on them. And you tell them they’re not welcome anymore, anywhere. We’ve got to get the children connected to their parents.”
“We don’t know what damage has been done to these children,” she added. “All that we know is they’re in cages. They’re in prisons. They’re in jails. I don’t care what they call it, that’s where they are and Mr. President, we will see you every day, every hour of the day, everywhere that we are to let you know you cannot get away with this.”
In an interview with MSNBC, Auntie Maxine said she has “no sympathy” for members of the current administration, and Trump responded on Twitter by saying she has an extraordinarily low IQ.
“Congresswoman Maxine Waters, an extraordinarily low IQ person, has become, together with Nancy Pelosi, the Face of the Democrat Party. She has just called for harm to supporters, of which there are many, of the Make America Great Again movement. Be careful what you wish for Max,” he tweeted on Monday.
On Wednesday, he had some more to say. “Congratulations to Maxine Waters, whose crazy rants have made her, together with Nancy Pelosi, the unhinged FACE of the Democrat Party. Together, they will Make America Weak Again!” Donnie tweeted. “But have no fear, America is now stronger than ever before, and I’m not going anywhere!”
Trump’s campaign also mentioned Waters under the subject line “Harassment” in a recent fundraising email to supporters.
