<p><strong>Drake</strong> recently opened up to <a href="https://dev.theshaderoom.com/lil-yachty-says-sex-is-diluted-speculates-that-women-probably-think-hes-gay/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Lil Yachty</a> about some past lyrical decisions that he &#8220;could&#8217;ve done without.&#8221; Specifically, he acknowledged how his decision to name-drop women—including women like Ki-Ki, Bria &; Nebby—in songs isn&#8217;t something that he&#8217;s particularly proud of.</p>

<p>The subject came up during Episode 1 of FUTUREMOOD&#8217;s <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UBTqCqQl2fY&;t=474s" target="_blank" rel="noopener">&#8220;A Moody Conversation&#8221;</a> series. While chit-chatting on a picturesque beach, Lil Yachty brought up a line in &#8220;Weston Road Flows&#8221; where Drizzy proclaims that he &#8220;plan[s] to retire&#8221; at 35.</p>
<p>As he&#8217;s now 36 years old and still firmly in the game, Drake went on to say, &#8220;I hate hearing that s**t.&#8221; Oop! The &#8220;Rich Flex&#8221; rapper then proceeded to note that, in addition to age-based lines, he also regrets the times when he&#8217;s &#8220;said girls&#8217; names in songs.&#8221;</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;I think that and some times when I&#8217;ve said girls&#8217; names in songs, maybe those are the two things that I look back on and I&#8217;m like, &#8216;Maybe I could&#8217;ve done without, like, s***ting on people for age or disrupting somebody&#8217;s life'&#8221;</p></blockquote>
<p>Drake went on to add that, while his lyricism is &#8220;never with ill intent,&#8221; he knows that it ultimately comes down to &#8220;the fact that [he] said it.&#8221;</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;The lyrics are never with ill intent, but I had somebody tell me one time be like, &#8216;You know, it’s not necessarily what you&#8217;re saying about me, it&#8217;s the fact that you said it.'&#8221;</p></blockquote>
<h3 style="text-align: center;">Drake Says He&#8217;s All About Honesty In His Music</h3>
<p>As the conversation continued, the Toronto-bred artist referenced a discussion that shed light on the impact that these references have on the women&#8217;s lives, as they&#8217;re the ones who are ultimately &#8220;left to pick up the pieces.&#8221;</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;Just in the sense of, like, &#8216;You don&#8217;t know what it does to me. You don&#8217;t know who my boyfriend is at the time or you don&#8217;t know what my family knows and doesn&#8217;t know. And if you express any form of discontent for me in a song and call me by name, then all of a sudden I&#8217;m left to pick up the pieces in my own life that I&#8217;ve tried to build up for myself.&#8217; So I&#8217;ve tried my best to stop doing that.&#8221;</p></blockquote>
<p>However, Drizzy was sure to point out, &#8220;But I like to be honest in music too, so that one&#8217;s a push and pull.&#8221;</p>
<p>Humorously, after remarking that Drake &#8220;used to [name-drop] a lot,&#8221; Yachty revealed, &#8220;I used to think you were making girls&#8217; names up.&#8221;</p>
<p>Despite Yachty&#8217;s suspicions, Drake clarified that he&#8217;s &#8220;never made a girl&#8217;s name up.&#8221;</p>
