A teenage cancer victim had one wish–to be frozen and not buried.
Surprisingly High Court Judge Peter Jackson granted her that wish. According to NBC News, the then dying 14-year-old girl had hopes that when cancer is cured in the future she can be awaken and cured as well.
“Being cryo-preserved gives me a chance to be cured and woken up — even in hundreds of years’ time,” she said.
With that argument, she made history. Judge Peter Jackson made the ruling that granted her wish back in October. He calls the situation “the first of its kind” in England.
“It is no surprise that this application is the only one of its kind to have come before the courts in this country — and probably anywhere else,” he said.
The technique hasn’t been scientifically proven to work yet, however, movies like Captain America gives hope that you can go to sleep frozen and wake up hundreds of years later right where you left off–just in a different place in time of course.
When the girl died, the judge ordered her body to be transported to a United States specialist facility so her preservation process could be started.
