<p>Ladies, imagine being told you CAN’T say no to a boy if he asks you to dance. Well, that’s exactly what happened at Kanesville Elementary School in Ogden, Utah, and the parents weren’t here for it!</p>
<p>According to CNN, the school holds a sixth-grade dance on Valentine’s Day each year. The school claims the dance is supposed to encourage/promote inclusion, and in the past students have been instructed by their teachers to say yes when a fellow classmate asks them to dance.</p>
<p>This news didn’t sit well with several parents who thought the school’s idea of trying to promote inclusion wasn’t well thought out.</p>
<p>&#8220;The teacher said she can&#8217;t. She has to say yes. She has to accept and I said, &#8216;Excuse me?,'&#8221; one parent said to CNN.</p>
<p>It &#8220;sends a bad message to girls that girls have to say &#8216;yes&#8217; &#8212; sends a bad message to boys that girls can&#8217;t say &#8216;no,'&#8221; the parent continued.</p>
<p>&#8220;Psychologically, my daughter keeps coming to me and saying I can&#8217;t say &#8216;no&#8217; to a boy. That&#8217;s the message kids are getting.&#8221;</p>
<p>The school took into account the parents’ concerns and have since changed the instructions for the dance moving forward.</p>
<p>&#8220;In the best interest of our students, we are re-examining the procedures surrounding these dances and will make any necessary changes to promote a positive environment where all students feel included and empowered in their choices,&#8221; the statement said.</p>
<p>&#8220;We have advised our schools to eliminate any sort of language in the instructions surrounding these dances that would suggest a student must dance with another student.&#8221;</p>
