The time is almost here for Kelly Rowland’s new television show “Chasing Destiny” to premiere on BET. Since she is a founding member of one of the most popular girl groups, Destiny’s Child, she definitely knows what it takes when it comes to finding a new girl group.
Alongside long time collaborator and former Destiny’s Child creative director, Frank Gatson, the two will come together to find the next big female singing group.
Nonetheless, Kelly wanted it to be very clear that this show will not be a reality competition show. In fact, in the first preview of the show she can be seen saying, “I don’t want reality stars, I want stars.”
While promoting the show Rowland said, “No one has actually gotten a chance to see the journey of a group, we actually wanted to have everything documented and cameras following us.”
Back in December she talked with Billboard about why girl groups are still important. She said, “One of the things I loved about being in Destiny’s Child was little girls seeing us travel together, sing together, talk together, hang out together. It shows camaraderie, friendship and to me that’s missing. This is such a selfie-absorbed society. We need to see more of girls getting along.”
