<p>Roommates, Hurricane Dorian is not letting up, and Florida residents are all too familiar with how this story ends. Previous hurricanes brought devastating flooding and now, residents are taking unique precautions to protect their homes.</p>
<p>According to<a href="https://www.actionnewsjax.com/news/local/woman-plastic-wraps-home-ahead-of-hurricane-dorian/981650721"> Action News JAX</a>, Brittany Vidal of Jacksonville, Florida decided to wrap her home with 6-millimeter plastic, duct tape, and sandbags to prepare for what Hurricane Dorian is bringing to the area.</p>
<p>She says her home flooded during both Hurricanes Matthew and Irma, so no precaution is too drastic.</p>
<p>&#8220;Hopefully our barricade will do something for us this year&#8221; she says.</p>
<p>Brittany says she lives in what is considered Zone A, a term used by officials to determine who should evacuate during emergencies. Zone A reportedly houses 149,000 people who were asked to evacuate ahead of the hurricane. Brittany and her family have chosen to stay in their home for now.</p>
<p>Hurricane Dorian has so far wreaked havoc across the Bahamas, causing extreme flooding and winds. So far, five fatalities have bee reported. Authorities have urged people on the island to find floatation devices and grab hammers to break out of their attics if necessary.</p>
<p>The now Category 4 storm came to a standstill on the island, taking off roofs, destroying cars, and forcing rescue crews to take immediate shelter.</p>
<p>The National Hurricane Center in the United States has been watching Dorian, and are now warning those living across the Florida and Georgia coasts. Officials in St. Johns County, Florida say they are planning for the worst and if things become too dangerous, first responders may not be able to get to people who choose to stay in evacuation zones.</p>
