Details of the Fort Lauderdale Airport shooting are breaking day-by-day. Today we learn that the shooter is possibly looking at the death penalty.
Esteban Santiago reportedly gave his official confession on Friday. Just days later U.S. Magistrate Judge Alicia O. Valle told him that two of his three charges are punishable by death.
According to CNN, his charges include using and carrying a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence, performing an act of violence against a person at an airport serving international civil aviation that caused serious bodily injury, and causing the death of a person through the use of a firearm.
The first charge’s maximum penalty is life in prison. The second two can land him in life in–wherever you go when you shoot up a airport and kill five people.
Here’s a few facts about the suspect: he claims he served in the military for approximately 10 years, he’s currently unemployed, he doesn’t own a car or any property, and his bank account only has about $10 in it.
