<p><strong>Gap</strong> wants <strong>Kanye West</strong>, also known as <strong>Ye</strong>, to foot the bill for alleged unapproved structural changes to a previously leased storefront. They&#8217;re seeking $2 million in damages from the artist months after their creative <a href="https://dev.theshaderoom.com/gap-takes-immediate-steps-to-remove-yeezy-products-from-its-stores/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">partnership fallout</a>.</p>
<p>The retailer is suing Ye after <strong>Art City Center</strong>, the owner of the store building, sued them last year for the &#8220;completed numerous, significant, unapproved modifications.&#8221;</p>
<p><strong>Art City Center</strong> claims Gap didn&#8217;t restore the building following the end of their lease in 2022. But Gap is blaming Kanye,<a href="https://radaronline.com/p/kanye-west-sued-the-gap-2-million-breach-of-contract-yeezy-landlord-lawsuit/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> denying any wrongdoing</a>, according to <em>Radar Online. </em></p>

<p>In response, Gap filed against Yeezy and Kanye West in April, claiming the artist made the building alterations without their approval, thus breaching their agreement.</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;The performance of the work not only breached the Strategic Agreement, but the manner of preparing for and performing the work caused the need for the repairs and restoration alleged in the complaint,&#8221; Gap&#8217;s lawsuit reportedly claims.</p></blockquote>
<p>Gap doesn&#8217;t want to be responsible for the $1.5 million Art City Center demands. They say their contract with Ye <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-12117521/Gap-seeking-2M-Kanye-West.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">made them not liable</a> for &#8220;any claims brought due to Yeezy&#8217;s acts or commissions,&#8221; per <em>The Daily Mail. </em></p>
<h3 style="text-align: center;">Gap Wants Ye To Pay $2 Million In Compensatory Damages And Storefront Restoration Costs</h3>
<p>For context, the commercial real estate company and the retailer entered a one-year lease on April 1, 2021. But, they ultimately decided to extend the lease past the March 31, 2022 end date.</p>
<p>Gap was responsible for paying Art City Center over $104,000 in monthly rent and an additional $8,333 for parking, but they were restricted from making building changes without approval.</p>
<p>Now, the real estate company reportedly alleges Gap owes them about $822,000 in holding damages from September 2022, accruing at $164,000 per month.</p>
<p>In addition to the money Art City Center demands, the retailer also wants Ye to pay them $2 million in compensatory damages.</p>
<p><em>Radar Online </em>says Kanye has not reacted to Gap&#8217;s lawsuit. Their breach of contract filing comes after Ye <a href="https://dev.theshaderoom.com/kanye-west-is-reportedly-terminating-partnership-with-gap-over-companys-alleged-breach-of-contract/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">ended the partnership</a> last fall.</p>
