George Floyd’s family was full of tears and joy when Derek Chauvin was found guilty. As members of his family were in Minneapolis and Houston, news outlets were able to capture their reactions.

His brother Ronald Floyd stated, “I’m feeling tears of joy. So emotional that no family in history ever got this far. We were able to get a guilty charge on all counts. We got a chance to take it all the way. This right here for everyone that has ever been in this situation, everybody. We are here standing in unity.”

His family in Houston can be seen and heard shouting for joy when all verdicts were read as “guilty.” One family member even stated, “Let’s go, baby! Yeah! This is what we wanted!”

As you know, Derek Chauvin, the former Minneapolis officer who kneeled on George Floyd’s neck for nearly 10 minutes, has been found guilty on all counts.

The jury in the trial deliberated for 10 hours, returning a verdict of three counts: Guilty of second-degree murder, third-degree murder, and second-degree manslaughter.

Derek Chauvin looked shook as he was cuffed and dragged back to jail, where he was remanded as he waits at least eight weeks until sentencing.
