<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Roommates, let&#8217;s keep the Floyd family in our prayers. Unfortunately, <a href="https://dev.theshaderoom.com/police-arrest-man-who-allegedly-threw-paint-on-george-floyd-statue-in-nyc/">George Floyd&#8217;s</a> four-year-old niece Arianna Delane was shot while sleeping in her bed on Saturday. The bullet was fired by an unidentified suspect(s) who opened fire into her family&#8217;s apartment in Houston, TX. According to <a href="https://abc13.com/4-year-old-shot-on-new-years-day-houston-police-southside-shooting-girl/11424462/">ABC 13</a>, Derrick Delane, Arianna&#8217;s father, said their apartment in the 3300 block of Yellowstone Blvd was hit several times by gunfire just before 3 am on January 1st. The gunfire entered the second story of the building and hit the child who was asleep in the front bedroom.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;My daughter jumped up and said, &#8216;Daddy, I&#8217;ve been hit,&#8217; and I was shocked until I saw the blood, and I realized my 4-year-old daughter was really hit,&#8221; Derrick recalled. &#8220;She didn&#8217;t know what was going on. She was asleep.&#8221; Arianna&#8217;s mother immediately drove her to the hospital, where she underwent surgery. Reports state that the child was struck in her torso and sustained several injuries, including a punctured lung, liver, and three broken ribs. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Derrick feels fortunate that his daughter didn&#8217;t pass away due to the shooting but does believe their home was targeted. &#8220;Why would my house get shot up?&#8221; he said. &#8220;My daughter doesn&#8217;t know. I can&#8217;t explain that to her. As the father, you&#8217;re supposed to protect the kids.&#8221; Houston Police Chief Troy Finner launched an Internal Affairs investigation into the department&#8217;s response time to the shooting. Derrick explained that authorities didn&#8217;t arrive until nearly four hours after the incident, at 7 am.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">In a statement, Chief Finner stated, &#8220;I am aware and have concerns regarding the delayed response time in this incident and have initiated an Internal Affairs investigation. I ask the city to continue to pray for the child&#8217;s full recovery and assist in providing information that would lead to the arrest of the suspect or suspects responsible.&#8221; Currently, Arianna is recovering, and Houston police are investigating the shooting and asking for help from the public to bring her justice. We wish her a speedy recovery.</span></p>
