According to <a href="https://www.fox26houston.com/news/george-floyds-sister-latonya-forgives-derek-chauvin-for-what-he-did" target="_blank" rel="noopener">FOX 26 Houston</a>, Floyd forgives Chauvin for his role in her brother&#8217;s passing.</p>
<p>LaTonya Floyd&#8217;s sentiments arrive on the heels of the third anniversary of her brother&#8217;s passing, as reported by <a href="https://dev.theshaderoom.com/president-biden-police-reform-third-anniversary-george-floyds-death/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Shade Room</a>.</p>

<h3 style="text-align: center;">LaTonya Floyd Said She Has To Forgive Chauvin To &#8220;Move Forward&#8221; With Her Life</h3>
<p>Floyd spoke with FOX 26 Houston reporters during a recent event. According to the outlet, she expressed that the world may feel she&#8217;s &#8220;crazy&#8221; for her thoughts, but she needs to forgive Chauvin to &#8220;move forward&#8221; with her life.</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;I know America may think I&#8217;m crazy for saying this, but I gotta get this off my chest. At this point, three years down the line, I do forgive Derek Chauvin for what he did, it&#8217;s not okay that he did. Ok, but I have to forgive him in order to move forward in my life. I&#8217;ve been running around in circles, I&#8217;ve been going through a whole lot, and if our higher power don&#8217;t forgive us, we&#8217;re nothing. We&#8217;re lost. We&#8217;re outta there. And I can&#8217;t keep living my life with this anger, that&#8217;s gonna form to hate, such as he had. And it&#8217;s going to lead to me doing something like that&#8230;&#8221;</p></blockquote>

<p>Floyd&#8217;s sister continued to explain that she &#8220;can&#8217;t live&#8221; with those negative feelings. Additionally, she said that she prays Chauvin finds &#8220;peace within himself.&#8221;</p>

So I pray for him, and I pray he find peace within himself, and I pray that next time, he kneel down, he&#8217;s kneeling down to help someone up, not hold &#8217;em down. God has a plan for everybody. I pray for Derek and I do forgive you, and if you are listening, may the peace of God be with you man.&#8221;</p></blockquote>
<h3 style="text-align: center;">Philonese Floyd Also Shared A Statement With Reporters</h3>
<p>Goerge Floyd&#8217;s brother, Philonese Floyd, also shared a statement with <a href="https://www.fox26houston.com/news/george-floyds-sister-latonya-forgives-derek-chauvin-for-what-he-did" target="_blank" rel="noopener">FOX 26 Houston</a> reporters. He explained that he is &#8220;still waiting&#8221; for the government to pass a law banning chokeholds.</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;All of this stuff needs to be passed. If you want to consider this place that we live in in the United States of America to be a great place where people fight to get to.&#8221;</p></blockquote>
<p>President Biden appears to echo similar sentiments. On Thursday — the third anniversary of Floyd&#8217;s passing — the president reminded the public of his dedication to passing &#8220;meaningful&#8221; police reform, as reported by <a href="https://dev.theshaderoom.com/president-biden-police-reform-third-anniversary-george-floyds-death/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Shade Room</a>.</p>

<p>Derek Chauvin was sentenced to 252 in prison in July, as reported by <a href="https://dev.theshaderoom.com/president-biden-police-reform-third-anniversary-george-floyds-death/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Shade Room</a>. During a public incident that occurred on May 25, 2020, Chauvin — a Minneapolis police officer at the time — was recorded kneeling on Floyd&#8217;s neck for nine minutes.</p>
<p>This action caused George Floyd to pass away from suffocation.</p>
