#TSRPositiveImages: Chance The Rapper continues to fight for funding when it comes to public schools in Chicago.

The rapper has been known to raise millions and also donate money for public school funding.

On Wednesday, Chance stopped by Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Paideia Academy on the city’s South Side to announce a huge donation.

According to NBC Chicago, Chance announced a grant worth $1.5 million from major tech company Google. $1million from the donation will go to Chance’s non-profit organization, SocialWorks, and $500,000 will go to the Children’s First Fund, which is used to support computer science programming.

According to the press release from Google, the money will be used for arts programs and computer science programs, and classes will be given to teach students “technical skills for the future.”

Google.Org Principal Justin Steele said, “The research says that 65 percent of grade school kids are going to be working in careers that don’t exist today. We don’t know exactly what those jobs will look like, but we know the skills they will learn through coding, like critical thinking and creative problem solving are going to be critical for the future.”
