<p>The situation unfolded over the weekend while Monica was performing at the Riverfront Music Festival in Detroit, and her response to the matter was caught on video.</p>
<p>While on the stage, Monica caught wind of a physical altercation in the audience and began repeating, &#8220;Wait a minute.&#8221;</p>
<p>She then admonishes the man by stating, <strong><em>&#8220;No! Don&#8217;t you hit her like that!&#8221; </em></strong></p>
<p>After declaring that the alleged assailant had to leave, Monica went full &#8220;Goonica&#8221; mode and leaped into the crowd. While in the audience, Monica says, <em><strong>&#8220;You don&#8217;t hit no f**king lady like that!&#8221;</strong></em></p>
<p>After that, Monica returned to the stage and apologized while explaining her reaction.</p>

<h3 style="text-align: center;">Monica Says She Was &#8220;Triggered&#8221; By The Ordeal: &#8220;It Was Like Seeing My Mother Or An Aunt Get Assaulted&#8221;</h3>
<p>After the video began circulating online, Monica stepped into <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/CvDGOqWx6E2/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&;igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Shade Room</a>&#8216;s comment section and reiterated her apology.</p>
<p>However, the &#8220;Angel of Mine&#8221; singer pointed out, &#8220;No one would take action!&#8221;</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;I was so triggered, I watched &; she didn&#8217;t appear to even know him! It appeared to be about space during a packed concert!&#8221;</p></blockquote>
<p>Monica also shared that the alleged assailant apparently &#8220;punched [the woman] with ALL his strength,&#8221; and she was merely &#8220;prevent[ing] her from being hit again.&#8221;</p>
<p>After emphasizing that her pleas for help &#8220;fell on deaf ears,&#8221; the artist acknowledged, <strong><em>&#8220;It was like seeing my mother or an aunt be assaulted!&#8221; </em></strong></p>
<p>Finally, she noted that the woman in question appeared to be over 50, and she &#8220;pray[s] she&#8217;s ok.&#8221;</p>
