High School Cafeteria Worker Arrested For Allegedly Selling Homemade Edibles To Students

A Louisiana high school cafeteria worker has been arrested for allegedly selling “food laced with marijuana.” As reported by 25 News Today, the 45-year-old woman, named Tymetrica Cohns, was atemporary cafeteria worker at Jewel M. Sumner High School.

A Student Suspected The Worker’s Actions And Informed Authorities

Cohns was arrested on Friday. Authorities in Tangipahoa Parish revealed that they were notified of the woman’s alleged actions through a Crime Stoppers app by a student.

Tangipahoa Parish School Superintendent Melissa Stilley explained further.

I want to commend this student who saw something and used the app to bring this threat to the attention of our school officials and law enforcement.

On Friday afternoon, school officials and law enforcement were notified of a possible threat involving a substitute cafeteria worker allegedly selling a homemade baked good laced with marijuana also known as edibles.
The threat was reported by a student through the Crime Stoppers of Tangipahoa P3 app, an online tool utilized to anonymously report safety threats…

According to the superintendent, Cohns was temporarily hired by a “staffing service,” called ESS, that “places fill-in employees within schools.”

The safety of our students is of the utmost importance to our school system.

The Temporary Cafeteria Worker Has Reportedly Been Hit With 2 Charges

According to WFAB, Tymetrica Cohns has been charged with “possession and distribution of a controlled dangerous substance.” And “distribution of a controlled dangerous substance in a drug-free zone.”

Police ChiefJimmy Travis also issued a brief statement about the incident.
