Hot 97 DJ Ebro Questions When The Hip Hop Community Is Going To Put Some Respect On Nicki Minaj’s Name

Nicki Minaj’s place in hip hop is always the cause for great debate, with both fans and industry critics voicing their opinion regrading her music legacy. The latest person to throw their two cents into the conversation is radio DJ Ebro Darden from Hot 97—and many were surprised with what he had to say.

Despite Ebro’s past comments that were less than celebratory of Nicki Minaj, he has definitely changed his tune based on his recent post on social media. Ebro took to his Twitter page to express his feelings about celebrating Nicki and all that she has accomplished in her career.

He wrote:

As this decade comes to a close can someone put together a real celebration for Nicki Minaj? She brought women in Rap back!! Lil Wayne gave her the bounce pass & she took off…now look!

While briefly listing her accomplishments, Ebro believes it’s important that Nicki be shown proper respect for one in particular – bringing women in rap back. Nicki would probably welcome such a celebration from her peers in the industry, as she has stated in the past that she feels the scope of her influence is often overlooked when the topic of female hip hop comes up.

As of right now Niki has publicly responded to Ebro’s social media message, but we are definitely curious to know how she may feel.

Roommates, what are your thoughts on this?
