The powerful storm, which at its height was labeled a Category 4 storm, is currently ripping through the #FloridaPanhandle area affecting residents in #Georgia as well.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">One fatality has been reported in #Greensboro, Florida, where a tree fell on a home, causing fatal injuries to a man inside, according to Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Sgt. Anglie Hightower. She said there was one additional injury reported in the county, where residents and first responders were having major communication issues with radios and telephones.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Hightower said the worst damage appeared to be near the community of #Chattahoochee, where they believe a tornado hit, according to @<a href="https://www.cnn.com/us/live-news/tropical-storm-hurricane-michael-florida/index.html">CNN.</a> She added that deputies have not been able to enter the area to assess the damage.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">In other communities in the Panhandle, strong wind gusts have blown out windows in homes and office buildings, including the First Federal Bank and Medical Sacred Heart in Panama City. The hospital said it is running off of generators and patients have been moved to safe areas of the facility.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The weather has even called for a tornado warning in Atlanta and Hurricane Michael is the first Category 3 storm to track into Georgia since the 1800s.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">In Tallahassee, Mayor Andrew Gillum said about 50,000 of the capital’s 120,000 utility customers, including the emergency operations center, have no power. The operations center is now running on emergency generators. The strongest winds were expected tonight.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">In preparing for the storm, Florida officials were preparing to deploy 1 million gallons of water, 1.5 million meals and 400,000 pounds of ice to families impacted by the storm, Governor Rick Scott said in a tweet.</span></p>
