<p>News recently broke that, shortly ahead of <strong>Tina Turner</strong>&#8216;s passing, one of her sons — <strong>Ike Turner Jr. </strong>— was caught with just under 2 grams of crack.</p>

<h3 style="text-align: center;">Police Say Turner &#8220;Tried To Eat The Drugs&#8221; During A Traffic Stop In Texas</h3>
<p><a href="https://people.com/tina-turner-son-ike-turner-jr-arrested-crack-possession-tried-eat-drugs-cop-exclusive-7550382" target="_blank" rel="noopener">PEOPLE</a> reported about the matter on Wednesday, and the case dates back to early May.</p>
<p>Specifically, the outlet notes that police pulled Turner over on May 6 in Alvin, Texas, over a busted light. However, authorities ultimately seized 1.7 grams of crack, as well as 0.7 grams of meth, during the late-night traffic stop.</p>
<p>According to Alvin Police Department Captain <strong>Q.T. Arendell</strong>, officers uncovered the narcotics after the 64-year-old tried to &#8220;eat the drugs&#8221; and dispose of the evidence.</p>

<p>PEOPLE also points out that authorities are charging <strong>Jessica Salinas-Esquivel</strong>, a passenger who was with Ike Jr. at the time, with possession of a controlled substance.</p>
<p>Since his arrest, authorities have reportedly held Ike Turner Jr. on a $70K bond at the Brazoria County Jail.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s worth pointing out that, as the matter went down in early May, it occurred merely 18 days before Tina Turner passed away in Switzerland at the age of 83.</p>

<h3 style="text-align: center;">Ike Jr. Spoke On The Distance Between Him &; Tina Turner</h3>
<p>While Ike Turner Jr.&#8217;s arrest occurred less than three weeks ahead of his mom&#8217;s passing, he&#8217;s been candid about how the pair didn&#8217;t have the closest mother-son relationship.</p>
<p>During a 2018 interview with the <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5669995/Tina-turned-family-claims-adopted-son-Ike-Junior.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Daily Mail</a>, Ike Turner Jr. noted that he hadn&#8217;t spoken to Tina in nearly two decades. He also added, <strong><em>&#8220;I don’t think any of my brothers have talked to her in a long time either.&#8221;</em></strong></p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;Tina raised me from the age of two. She’s the only mother I&#8217;ve ever known. But I haven&#8217;t talked to my mother since God knows when—probably around 2000. I don&#8217;t think any of my brothers have talked to her in a long time either.&#8221;</p></blockquote>
<p>Regarding the distance between him and Tina, Ike Jr. previously said that his mother was preoccupied with her new life in Europe.</p>
