When shooting your shot goes wrong! Roommates, DomiNque Perry—the actress who plays Tasha on the hit HBO show #Insecure–recently revealed that she once tried to make a move on co-star #JayEllis who plays Lawrence! Even though these two characters have a hot situationship on-camera, Perry admitted that it didn’t go the way she planned in real life. ????
In a recent interview, Perry said she used her big eyes to attract Ellis. “It was like my second day of filming and I always thought Jay Ellis was so fine. One day I said, ‘You know what? I’m going to shoot my shot,’” the actress said. “It was like my second day and I was still the new kid on the block. I have this thing I do where I do these googly eyes. I have big eyes so they work for me.”
This time they didn’t. In fact, Ellis thought something was going on with Perry. “I remember just staring at him and giving him the googly eyes and he kind of looked at me and was like, ‘Why are you looking like that? Are you ok?’” she shared.
“When he said that, I picked up my face off of the floor. I never shooted my shot with Jay Ellis ever again. ‘You are my brother, I get it. This is a work thing. I get it Jay!’ But I’m just glad that [it] didn’t happen around anybody else but me and him, it would have been embarrassing.”
Fortunately, Perry and Ellis’ awkward exchange wasn’t too bad. In fact, they’re really good friends to this day! “Me and Jay are so cool,” Perry said.
