<p data-pm-slice="0 0 []">When it comes to reppin&#8217; the city that raised <a href="https://dev.theshaderoom.com/issa-rae-set-to-be-honored-with-the-visionary-award-at-the-2022-producers-guild-awards/">Issa Rae</a>, she&#8217;s always shouting out her hometown of Inglewood! The native made sure she highlighted her city on her show &#8216;Insecure,&#8217; and for all that she&#8217;s accomplished in her career, the city is now highlighting the talented mogul. Every celeb desires to receive a key to their city, and now Issa has hers!</p>
<p>Yesterday during the &#8216;Taste of Inglewood&#8217; festival, Issa received the key to Inglewood, making her FIRST person in the city&#8217;s 114 years of incorporation, according to <a href="https://people.com/tv/issa-rae-becomes-first-receive-key-city-inglewood/">People.</a> During the event, Mayor James T. Butts presented the key to Issa, who he called &#8220;the queen of Inglewood.</p>
<p>In a speech, Issa spoke about receiving the key, stating, &#8220;I&#8217;m a little emotional, I&#8217;m trying to be a thug right now. The mayor really flabbergasted me in that this is the first key in 114 years. It&#8217;s a huge honor, and I just want to thank you all so much for your support.&#8221; She continued, &#8220;Thank you to the mayor, thank you to the city of Inglewood for making it so easy for us to film here, for helping us to showcase this city that I love so much.&#8221;</p>
<p>She added, &#8220;I have to give love to my grandparents who have lived here, who have lived in Briarwood for a long time and who established my first point of view of Inglewood and love the city themselves; my mom and my sister who live here actively.&#8221;</p>
<p>It seems like Issa manifested this moment. If you recall, in episode eight of the fifth season of &#8216;Insecure,&#8217; Issa received a key from Tyra Banks, who acted as the mayor! Congrats, Issa, keep putting on for &#8220;The Wood!&#8221;</p>
