<p>Roommates, the news of remakes has become very common this year, and it looks like Issa Rae is about to give us another one!</p>
<p>According to <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/issa-rae-new-line-team-set-it-reimagining-1240145">Hollywood Reporter</a>, Issa is set to produce a remake to one of our oldies but goodies, &#8216;Set It Off&#8217;. She is also looking to snag a role in the film alongside some of your favorite celebrities.</p>
<p>The original movie tells the story of four friends who come together in a desperate attempt to complete a series of bank robberies. After successfully completing the first few, things go down hill, and ultimately end in death.</p>
<p>Jada Pinkett Smith, Queen Latifah, and Vivica A. Fox were part of the original cast of the film, playing three of the most influential roles.</p>
<p>Although the news may be exciting to some, other fans of the movie are critical of what the film could become if it&#8217;s remade. Some fans also question Issa&#8217;s ability to create outside of her realm of comedy and humor.</p>
<p>Some of the comments from fans read:</p>
<p>&#8220;Keep Set It Off a 90s classic, the remake won&#8217;t hit the same.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;Y&#8217;all better speak up like y&#8217;all spoke up for Power theme song. Leave it be Issa don&#8217;t do it.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;I like Issa and all bu all I know is&#8230; don&#8217;t mess up my movie. Better yet, leave it alone&#8221;</p>
<p>Despite the criticism, Issa&#8217;s spin on the movie has the potential to recreate a sense of nostalgia we all feel when we hear &#8216;Set It Off&#8217;. The movie may be based on violence and money, but it also speaks to the plight of black women and sisterhood&#8211;topics that Issa Rae excels in.</p>
