
Issa Rae has landed yet another leading role. This time around she has been cast in the upcoming romantic comedy American Princess.
According to Variety, Rae will play a woman who moves to London and finds herself drawn into a world of wealth and high society, and falls in love in a very unexpected way.
Paul Feig will be producing the project alongside Jessie Hendersonand Brendan OBrienthrough Feigco Entertainment. Amy Aniobi, who has worked with Rae on her hit HBO show Insecure, has written the script for the project.
According to The Hollywood Reporter,Stella Meghie is on board to direct the project.
Aside from being the star on her hit show, Rae is currently starring in the new film. The Hate U Give, along with Amandla Stenberg. She plays activist April Ofrah, who helps Stenbergs character, Starr, find her voice following the shooting of her childhood friend.
Rae will also star alongside “Blackish” starMarsai Martin in the upcoming comedy “Little.”
Back in September Rae’s HBO show “Insecure” was renewed for a fourth season. Earlier this year the show earned her an Emmy nomination for Best Actress in a Comedy Series.
