<p>More than a year and a half after the infamous &#8220;Slapgate&#8221; incident, <strong>Jada Pinkett Smith</strong> is alleging that <strong>Chris Rock</strong> had previously asked her on a date amid rumors that she and <strong>Will Smith</strong> were getting divorced.</p>

<p>The <em>Girls Trip </em>actress made her revelation during a recent sit-down with <a href="https://people.com/jada-pinkett-smith-says-chris-rock-asked-her-out-on-a-date-amid-rumors-she-and-will-were-divorcing-exclusive-8349420" target="_blank" rel="noopener">PEOPLE</a>. She recalled that, despite divorce reports about her and Will emerging on a near-annual basis, Chris allegedly believed them at one point. In turn, he apparently called her up and asked her on a date.</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;I think every summer all the reports would come out that me and Will were getting a divorce. And this particular summer, Chris, he thought that we were getting a divorce. So he called me and basically he was like, &#8216;I&#8217;d love to take you out.'&#8221;</p></blockquote>
<p>However, Jada Pinkett Smith says she shut down the rumors before Chris Rock &#8220;profusely apologized.&#8221;</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;I was like, &#8216;What do you mean?&#8217; He was like, &#8216;Well, aren&#8217;t you and Will getting a divorce?&#8217; I was like, &#8216;No. Chris, those are just rumors.&#8217; He was appalled. And he profusely apologized and that was that.&#8221;</p></blockquote>
<p>Moving along, the actress shared that she and Chris haven&#8217;t spoken since the night of the 2022 Academy Awards. When asked if she had &#8220;any desire to talk&#8221; to Chris, Jada proclaimed, <strong><em>&#8220;Here&#8217;s my desire: I just hope that all the misunderstanding around this can be cleared up and that there can be peace.&#8221;</em></strong></p>
<p>At this time, Chris Rock hasn&#8217;t publicly acknowledged Jada Pinkett Smith&#8217;s statement.</p>

<p>She added that the couple never shared their separation due to them &#8220;just not being ready.&#8221; Jada also said she &#8220;considered&#8221; divorce, though she hasn&#8217;t &#8220;been able to break that promise&#8221; they made when they wed.</p>
