So the other day Janet Hubert, also know as the original “Aunt Viv” from Fresh Prince Of Bel Air, slammed Will and Jada Pinkett Smith for their Oscars boycott.
Hubert claimed the pair were only in uproar because Will did not get nominated and called them “pretenders,” saying there were more pressing issues going on than Oscars.
Shortly after Entertainment Tonight caught up with Jada and asked her about Hubert’s remarks. Jada told them that her video “isn’t really about the Oscars.” Jada used that moment to make a stand for unity.
She went on to say “Considering that Alabama had its highest recruitment for the KKK for Martin Luther King’s birthday, I hope that we as African Americans can find a way to get along and step together. ”
She continued “This whole Oscar controversy isn’t really about the Oscars. Really, in my plea to ask all communities and people of color to take back our power is so that we can use it in all sectors of our community, and right now, specifically with African American people, we have some very serious issues that I think we as people have to move together on.”
