Jamie Foxx thanked his family, God, friends, and fans for their protection and prayers during what he describes as a hellish period. The Oscar winner relayed the message in his first video since his “medical complication” in April.

Teary-eyed, he explained his decision to keep his status under TIGHT wraps and later shut down rumors about his condition. However, Foxx–like his family before him–did not outwardly say exactly what he suffered.

He shared the video update to his Instagram feed on July 22.

“I went through something that I thought I would never, ever go through. And I know a lot of people were waiting, wanting to hear updates, but to be honest with you, I just didn’t want you to see me, like that man,” Jamie Foxx said. “I want you to see me laughing, partying, having a good time, cracking a joke, doing a movie, television show. I didn’t want you to see me with tubes running out of me and trying to figure out if I was going to make it through.”

As the clip continued, Jamie Foxx thanked his daughter, sister, and medical professionals for saving his life and valuing his privacy.

“And to be honest with you, my sister Diedra Dixon, my daughter Corinne Marie saved my life, so to them, to God, to a lot of great medical people I’m able to leave you this video. I can’t tell you how great it feels to have them kick in such a great way. And y’all know they kept it airtight, they ain’t let nothing out. They protected me. And that’s what I hope everyone can have in moments like these.”

Under the comment section of Jamie’s video, Corinne wrote, “I love you Dad.”

As previously reported, his eldest daughter Corinne first told the world Jamie was receiving treatment on April 12. A few other written statements followed: an Instagram Story post on Jamie’s account, Corinne correcting hospitalization rumors, and the announcement of a new show for the daddy-daughter duo.

But months passed before the public SAW Jamie. Then in July, a group of people cruising on the Chicago River videoed the actor lying on the top deck of a yet. Jamie waved from afar.

Jamie Foxx Says He Is NOT Blind Or Paralyzed Following “Medical Complication”

Tapping into his humorous side, Jamie Foxx shut down rumors of being blind by rolling his eyeballs around. Overall he assured fans that any reports of being blind or paralyzed are not true.

“Some people said I was blind, but as you can see, the eyes are working just fine. Said I was paralyzed, I’m not paralyzed, but I did go through..I went through hell and back and my road to recovery had some potholes as well. But I’m coming back, and I’m able to work so I want to thank the people that let me work.”

As he thanked everyone for their love, the actor got teary-eyed, and his voice cracked with obvious emotion.

“I love all the love that I got,” Jamie said. “I know they talk about people crying on videos…you gotta do a take two. But I’m not gon do a take two, it is what it is. If you see me out, from now on and every once in a while I just burst into tears it’s because it’s been tough man. I was sick, man. But now I got my legs out under me, so you gon see me out. But like I said, I just want you to remember me for the jokes that I crack, the movies that I make…and the songs that I sing man.”

Industry Peers Show Support For Foxx After First Video Update

As of Monday, the clip had over 1.8 million likes and 192,000 comments on the platform. Jamie’s industry peers, including Will Smith, Kevin Hart, Viola Davis, Kerry Washington, and Michael B. Jordan, shared their encouragement in his comment section.

Awww Man!! Who’s cuttin’ onions?? Love U Foxx!! Your Light Is Needed ‘n Appreciated Right Now,” Will Smith wrote.

“This video just warmed my soul….Foxx you are needed man. We love you and we are forever with you,” Kevin Hart wrote. So glad to see my brother and so glad to see that you are in good spirits.”

Michael B. Jordan and Kerry Washington wrote “I love you,” with Jordan adding, “brother.”

“God is GOOD!!!!!!!! Sending love, Jamie,” Viola Davis wrote.”

Meanwhile, other industry peers like Ice-T took the time to clapback at online users picking apart Jamie’s appearance and pushing “clone” narratives.

“People would rather believe that Jamie is now a close or AI, than that man was just seriously sick and damn near died…cause he doesn’t look EXACTLY the same??? You look different after a bad cold! SMH weirdos…,” Ice-T wrote on Instagram.

Jamie Foxx also addressed the clone rumors in his video statement. He pretended to take off a mask before saying, “Just kidding.”

“Not cloned man, but I’m here on Earth because of some great people. I’m here on Earth because of God. So I love all y’all. I just wanted to jump on here and let y’all know that I’m on my way back.”
