For whatever reason, people make sexuality such a big deal these days. You like what you like and that shouldn’t be anyone else’s business. However, for years, singer #JanelleMonáe has been pestered with assumptions that she’s gay or bisexual and her recent art has only drawn more speculation.
Despite it all, Monáe has never addressed her sexuality…until now. The ‘Make Me Feel’ singer recently sat down with @RollingStone where she revealed that she identifies as pansexual.
“Being a queer black woman in America—someone who has been in relationships with both men and women—I consider myself to be a free-a** motherf*cker,” she said. Monáe used to identify as bisexual, but later “read about pansexuality and was like, ‘Oh, these are things that I identify with too.’ I’m open to learning more about who I am.”
