The 2018 Billboard Music Awards is quickly falling upon us, and on Monday Dick Clark Productions and NBC announced this year’s Icon Award recipient.
Janet Jackson has been climbing the charts and killing the stage for decades, and this year she will be honored with the award.
Aside from being one of the 2018 honorees, Janet will also hit the stage for a highly-anticipated performance. According to Billboard, this will be her first televised performance in nine years.
Last year, the songstress embarked on her “State of the World Tour,” which was a continuation of her 2016 “Unbreakable World Tour.” The tour had been postponed after Janet became pregnant with her son Eissa.
Previous Icon Award recipients include Cher, Celine Dion, Jennifer Lopez, Prince, Stevie Wonder and Neil Diamond.
The 2018 Billboard Music Awards goes down on Sunday, May 20th.
