Jermaine Dupri Thinks His Peers Shouldn’t Turn Down The Super Bowl: “Send A Message While Onstage—Take Advantage Of Your Platform”

The Super Bowl halftime performance has always been a super big deal, especially to musicians regarding who gets to be the performer. Some of our faves like Jay Z and Rihanna have turned down the opportunity to perform, in support of Colin Kaepernick.

Jermaine Dupri doesn’t think this is the way to go. He feels as though no one listens or pays enough attention to boycotts, and the platform is more valuable than that.

“Boycotts and marches don’t seem like they work to me, I’m sorry. I think they should send a message while they’re onstage, take advantage of your platform,” he tells TMZ.

“The more people speak on it, the more they talk about it, then the more people feel like it’s something they have to address. I feel like people ignore boycotts,” he continued.

Jermaine Dupri expressed that it’s okay to choose not to do the Super Bowl, but feels as though there should be more conversation surrounding it than ignoring it in a way.

The Super Bowl will be in Atlanta this year, and Maroon 5 will be the musical guests. People were split on this because they felt that the Super Bowl should’ve gotten real Atlanta natives such as Usher, Ciara, Migos, Future and others to perform. Do y’all think any of those celebs would’ve agreed to perform given the climate though?
