Jhene Aiko Sets The Record Straight On How Her Relationship With Big Sean Began

Recently Jhene Aiko stopped by BBC Radio 1Xtra where she talked the inspiration behind her music, being a mother, and of course her relationship with Big Sean.

During the interview, she talked about when she and Big Sean first met, and ultimately how they developed a friendship before ever moving into a romantic relationship.

She said, “The year that my brother passed, I had just met him. And we worked on ‘Beware’ and ‘I’m Gonna Be.’ He wanted to take me out on a date. I had a boyfriend, but I still went. It was like to a basketball game. Just as a friend!”

She continued to explain, “I mean, I had never been courtside to a game. And he’s cool. So, I told my boyfriend I’m gonna go to this game…me and my boyfriend were splitting up, it was, like, bad between us. He was still my boyfriend, I wasn’t gonna do anything with Sean or be disrespectful.”

She later went on to mention that her ex was secretly married and she didn’t know until the other woman confronted her.
