<p>Last night was a major win for Daniel Kaluuya, as he won the <em><a href="https://dev.theshaderoom.com/the-2021-academy-awards-featured-some-big-wins-major-snubs-as-chadwick-boseman-viola-davis-andra-day-leave-empty-handed/">Oscar</a></em> for best supporting actor for his role as Fred Hampton in &#8220;Judas and the Black Messiah.&#8221; Following his big win he answered a few questions from the press, however, there is one moment from the press room that has since gone viral.</p>
<p>While speaking to one outlet, a journalist could be heard asking him, &#8220;I was wondering what it meant for you to be directed by Regina, what this means for you at this time with the world in the state that it’s in?&#8221; With a confused look on his face, Daniel asked to hear the question again, and the question was asked again, but Regina&#8217;s [King] name was omitted.</p>

<p>Also nominated in the best supporting actor category was Leslie Odom Jr. who starred in &#8220;One Night in Miami&#8230;,&#8221; which was directed by Regina King. Therefore, many people believed that the journalist may have mistaken Daniel for Leslie.</p>
<p>According to <em><a href="https://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/2021/04/did-a-journalist-really-mistake-daniel-kaluuya-for-leslie-odom-jr-at-the-oscars">Vanity Fair</a></em>, journalist Margaret Gardiner made it clear that she did not mistake Daniel for Leslie and <em><a href="https://twitter.com/MargaretGGG/status/1386757889994334210?s=20">said</a></em>, &#8220;Daniel Kaluuya I did not mistake you for Leslie Odom Jnr. I&#8217;m sorry if it seemed that way. I had wanted to ask about Regina King not being nominated as a director for One Night in Miami, and your win for Judas and the Black Messiah for the community at this time.&#8221;</p>

<p>She continued to mention that there was an issue with the sound, so she proceeded to state her question again, but dropped Regina&#8217;s name the second time around as she restated her question, and asked Daniel what does his win mean to the community.</p>
