<p>Congrats are in order to <span class="link"><strong><a href="https://dev.theshaderoom.com/president-biden-nominates-ketanji-brown-jackson-to-serve-on-the-supreme-court/">Ketanji Brown Jackson</a></strong>, who just made history by becoming the first Black woman to be sworn in as a Supreme Court Justice. </span></p>
<p><span class="link">The brief ceremony took place Thursday. At the beginning of the ceremony, Chief Justice John Roberts said:</span></p>
<blockquote><p><span class="link">&#8220;We&#8217;re here today to administer the oaths of office to Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson; To become an associate justice of the Supreme Court of the United States.&#8221;</span></p></blockquote>
<p>According to <em><a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/live-updates/ketanji-brown-jackson-sworn-in-supreme-court-watch-live-stream-today-2022-06-30/">CBS News</a></em>, she replaces Justice Stephen Breyer, whose resignation became effective at noon, after serving on the court for 28 years.</p>
<p>He was also present during the ceremony and administered the judicial oath and said, &#8220;On behalf of all of the members of the court, I am pleased to welcome Justice Jackson to the court and to our common calling.&#8221;</p>
<h3 style="text-align: center;">Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson Speaks Out After Swearing In</h3>
<p>After the swearing-in ceremony, Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson spoke out in a statement and said,</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;With a full heart, I accept the solemn responsibility of supporting and defending the Constitution of the United States and administering justice without fear or favor, so help me God. I am truly grateful to be part of the promise of our great Nation. I extend my sincerest thanks to all of my new colleagues for their warm and gracious welcome.&#8221; She continued, &#8220;I am also especially grateful for the time and attention given to me by the Chief Justice and by Justice Breyer. Justice Breyer has been a personal friend and mentor of mine for the past two decades, in addition to being part of today&#8217;s official act. In the wake of his exemplary service, with the support of my family and friends, and ever mindful of the duty to promote the Rule of Law, I am well-positioned to serve the American people.&#8221;</p></blockquote>

<p>As <em><a href="https://dev.theshaderoom.com/president-biden-nominates-ketanji-brown-jackson-to-serve-on-the-supreme-court/">previously</a></em> reported, President Biden nominated Kentanji to serve on the Supreme Court back in February, at the time he said:</p>
