According to Rolling Stone, the rapper was sentenced to 27 months in prison for bringing a loaded gun to a Newark, New Jersey airport in 2018. Authorities arrested Santana after finding a loaded Derringer 38-caliber handgun and a “controlled dangerous substance” in the rapper’s carry-on bag.

As reported byHipHopDX, Santana served 17 months at FCI Petersburg Medium in Hopewell, Virgina. The prison is a medium security federal correctional institution.

I hated being there, but it was a learning experience. For me I got to turn jail into Yale. I got to be smarter, I got to read a lot more and I got back to writing. Like I wrote so much in there. Like my execution plans since I been home been phenomenal right now, like Im just all the way in getting to it.

Santana Explained The Difference Between Holding Cells And Prison

A holding cell in a couple days is way different from being in jail its not dirty and pissy. A holding cell where you go to is way different from what you getting and you locked down and you bout to be in the cell and you got a cellmate and stuff like that. Cause for one, n***a your cellmate aint going to let you be in no dirty, pissy one of yall going to be fighting.

N****s keep their shit clean in jail. All that pissy, dirty shit, thats at the bookings with motherf*****s that dont give a f**k and theres no order. You go to jail, theres order n***a. Theres order, theres politics and theres shit going on.

The Diplomats rapper explained that the “order” in prison is due to inmates being aware that they’re staying there for the long haul.

For the most part, now its like because n****s know theyre there to live there. When youre in a holding cell, most of them motherf*****s are like, Im going home tomorrow. My mommy bout to bail me out, this about to happen. They not going to be there long.
