In July, #JustinBieber announced that he was cancelling the remainder of his Purpose tour and later admitted that he was exhausted and needed to rest after being on the road for two years. While most of his fans understood his actions, many were bummed when they heard the news. Since Bieber’s decision was so last minute and abrupt, he penned an open letter to his fans explaining what exactly encouraged him to cancel the tour.
The singer took ownership of the way he has behaved towards fans in recent years. “I let my broken relationships dictate the way I acted toward people and the way I treated them! i let bitterness, jealously and fear run my life,” Bieber wrote. “I am extremely blessed to have people in the past few years help me build my character back up reminding me of who I am and who I want to be!!!”
Bieber also reiterated to his fans that him taking this needed time off is so that he can have a “sustainable” career. “”I’ve learned the more you appreciate your calling, the more you want to protect your calling,” he said. “Me taking this time right now is me saying I want to be SUSTAINABLE … I want my career to be sustainable, but I also want my mind, heart, and soul to be sustainable. So that I can be the man I want to be, the husband I eventually want to be, and the father I want to be.”
