<p>Roommates, we are sending our prayers to Karl-Anthony Towns of the <em><a href="https://dev.theshaderoom.com/karl-anthony-towns-and-joel-embiid-exchange-words-on-social-media-after-fighting-on-the-basketball-court/">Minnesota Timberwolves</a></em> and his family during this time.</p>
<p>Late Tuesday, Karl-Anthony took to social media to reveal his family&#8217;s current battle, which involves his mother being placed in a medically induced coma after testing positive for the coronavirus. In a video posted to his Instagram, he detailed the whole story, with hopes that people will start to take the virus more seriously.</p>
<p>He said that last week both of his parents had not been feeling well, and he encouraged that they seek medical attention. After not showing signs of improvement, he pushed for them to go to the hospital, and he and his sister suggested getting tested for the coronavirus.</p>
<p>Unfortunately, his mother&#8217;s health continued to decline. He explained that his mother had been suffering from a high fever and a cough that had been affecting her lungs.</p>
<p>His father was released, and he was mandated to be quarantined at home. However, his mother was not allowed to leave the hospital. He explained that both of his parents had been tested for COVID-19, but didn&#8217;t receive their results for a long time, but he assumed his mother had it because of her symptoms.</p>
<p>According to <em><a href="https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/28950945/wolves-karl-anthony-towns-says-mom-coma-coronavirus">ESPN</a></em>, the Timberwolves confirmed to ESPN&#8217;s Malika Andrews on Wednesday that Jacqueline Cruz (Karl-Anthony&#8217;s mother) has been diagnosed with COVID-19.</p>
<p>Karl-Anthony continued to talk about how his mother&#8217;s condition would take an unexpected turn, which has now led to her being placed in a medically induced coma.</p>
<p>Karl-Anthony stressed the importance of being safe during this time and in his caption, he <em><a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/B-JMTMeJhi6/">said</a></em>, &#8220;Sharing my story in the hopes that everyone stays at home! We need more equipment and we need to help those medical personnel on the front lines. Thank you to the medical staff who are helping my mom. You are all the true heroes! Praying for all of us at this difficult time.&#8221;</p>
