On day one of his trial for alleged sexual assault on #TempleUniversity employee #AndreaConstand, #BillCosby was escorted into the courthouse by his tv daughter #KeishaKnightPulliam. The actress received a some backlash for her open support, however she shared why she decided to stand by his side with the Associated Press. She said that showing support is “about standing by your truth,” which, for her, meant that she had to show up for Cosby.
“I want to be the person that I would like to have if the tables were turned,” the 38 year old said. “Right now it’s the jury’s job and the jury’s decision to determine guilt or innocence. It’s not mine or anyone else’s.” Cosby could get sentenced to 10 years if found guilty, but for right now, Pulliam believes that since he has not been found guilty that he is innocent.
“I don’t condone sexual assault in any way, shape or form, but, at the end of the day, our court system is set up … you’re innocent until proven guilty,” she told AP. “The job now is for the two sides to prove their cases, and I accept whatever verdict is handed down.”
Pulliam said that she is praying for everyone involved with the case.
