In August of 2015 rapper, Kevin Gates, stirred up controversy when a video surfaced on social media showing him kicking a female fan in the front row at one of his shows in Florida.
In today’s news, Gates has since been charged for simple battery over the incident that took place but now Gates is also using Florida’s law against the courts because he’s claiming self defense!
According to Complex, Gates says he was exercising his right in conjunction with the “Stand Your Ground” law when he kicked Miranda Dixon in the face. Allegedly, Dixon pulled at Gates shorts twice while he was on stage and Gates took it as if she was trying to pull him off the stage.
Gates says he gave Dixon a verbal warning the first time, but then when she did it again. He felt “necessary force” was needed to defend himself. OOP! Well talking about flipping the tables!
