<p>According to legal documents obtained by <a href="https://people.com/khloe-kardashian-officially-changes-son-tatum-name-over-a-year-after-birth-7557195" target="_blank" rel="noopener">PEOPLE</a>, the 1-year-old&#8217;s name has been legally updated to Tatum Thompson. The outlet reports that a Los Angeles judge approved Kardashian&#8217;s request for her son&#8217;s official name change on Thursday.</p>
<p>Furthermore, the outlet adds that the child&#8217;s name was originally listed as &#8220;Baby Kardashian&#8221; on his birth certificate. As <a href="https://dev.theshaderoom.com/khloe-kardashian-rare-photos-son-tatum-first-birthday-tristan-thompson/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Shade Room</a> previously reported, the child was born in July 2022 via a surrogate.</p>
<p>Court documents obtained by <a href="https://www.etonline.com/khloe-kardashian-and-tristan-thompsons-son-tatums-name-officially-changed-more-than-a-year-after" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Entertainment Tonight</a> have also confirmed the child&#8217;s legal name change.</p>
<h3 style="text-align: center;">More Reported Details Regarding The Child&#8217;s Original Name</h3>
<p>According to <a href="https://people.com/khloe-kardashian-officially-changes-son-tatum-name-over-a-year-after-birth-7557195" target="_blank" rel="noopener">PEOPLE</a>, California law allows parents to decide whether they&#8217;d like their newborn to assume their father&#8217;s last name. Or the last name of their mother, or a combination of both. However, whichever option is permanent and requires a court order to be changed.</p>
<p>A report published by <a href="https://www.etonline.com/why-khloe-kardashian-and-tristan-thompsons-son-initially-had-kardashian-as-his-last-name-206249" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Entertainment Tonight</a> in June reveals that Kardashian experienced difficulty when naming her son. At the time, a source explained that when a child&#8217;s name is not chosen at birth, the state of California will have the child assume the mother&#8217;s last name.</p>
