Earlier this week, the harrowing story of #CyntoiaBrown went viral. She was arrested and tried as an adult for murder when she was just 16 years old after shooting and killing the man who used her as a sex slave. Cyntoia received a 60-year sentence and isn’t eligible for parole until 51 years have been served.
This case is the perfect example of an extreme miscarriage of justice especially since Cyntoia was a child! That is why celebs such as #SnoopDogg, #TI and #KimKardashian spoke out about the case publicly. Kim actually volunteered to have her lawyer look into the case to see if there was any way to get justice and they’ve done just that!
Her attorney Shawn Holley tells @Blast that she asked her “to help her find a way to help these women. We have already contacted Alice Johnson and her team of lawyers who are now actively trying to find ways to facilitate her release.” You may recognize Holley as she was apart of Johnnie Cochran’s legal team that represented OJ Simpson back in the day.
Holley has also been working on Alice Johnson’s case. She’s a 62-year old woman who is currently serving 21 years of a life sentence for a non-violent drug crime.
If anyone can defend these women it’s Holley.
