Kim Kardashian’s New Documentary Details Her Efforts Against Mass Incarceration

Kim Kardashian has her hands in so many different things, it makes you wonder how she finds time to do it all. Aside from being a wife to Kanye West, a mother to their four adorable children, a successful beauty mogul and future lawyer—Kim is now tackling the mass incarceration problem. She has a new documentary coming on the subject and the first sneak peek has just been revealed.

Set to air on the Oxygen network, the trailer for Kim Kardashian’s documentary “Kim Kardashian West: The Justice Project” just dropped and we get a look into all the work she’s been doing behind the scenes to make strides in the long-standing issue of mass incarceration. In one portion of the trailer Kim declares that, “there is a mass incarceration problem in the United States.”

The two-hour documentary premieres on Sunday, April 5th and follows Kim as she explores the cases of Dawn Jackson, Alexis Martin, Momolu Stewart and David Sheppard, all current prisoners who she and legal experts believe have been unfairly sentenced. To further highlight their stories, Kim travels to the prisons where they’re being held, speaks to their families and friends, lobbies public officials, and consults with lawyers to try and facilitate their release.

Speaking about the documentary, which she executive produced, Kim said this:

“I partnered with Oxygen to do the ‘Kim Kardashian West: The Justice Project’ documentary because there are millions of people impacted by this broken justice system, and I wanted to put faces to these numbers and statistics. There are a lot of people who deserve a second chance, but many do not have the resources to make it happen. I want to help elevate these cases to a national level to effect change, and this documentary is an honest depiction of me learning about the system and helping bring tangible results to justice reform.”

The documentary also features an appearance by Alice Marie Johnson, who was the first person Kim helped get released from prison.
