Fans have been screaming #FreeKodakBlack for the past few months, but it looks like they are going to have to wait a little longer.
According to the Sun Sentinel, the “Skrt” rapper was released from jail in Florida on Monday, and transferred to the custody of South Carolina deputies.
Kodak Black, who’s real name is Dieuson Octave, is currently facing a charge of sexual conduct in Florence, South Carolina. A judge approved his transfer after he attended a hearing on November 21st.
The Sheriff’s spokesman, Major Michael Nunn said in an email, “Octave is currently being held at the Florence County Detention Center. The date and time of any court appearance is up to the court.”
Black is being accused of sexual battery at a hotel in Florence. He performed there back on February 6th in front of a crowd of about 12,000 people.
His Florida lawyer, Gary Kollin, said, “We are firmly convinced that he will be vindicated in that charge and shortly be set free. He’s looking forward to getting to South Carolina so he can go on with his life and career.”
Although Kodak Black has been behind bars, his fan base continues to rise. Back in October he released a freestyle called, “Jailhouse Blues,” which was recorded through a phone call made from jail.
