<p>This past Saturday, #NewOrleans city council member #LaToyaCantrell won a historic election!</p>
<p>She has been elected as the city&#8217;s first female mayor and will succeed #MitchLandrieu. “Almost 300 years, my friends. And New Orleans, we’re still making history,” she said in front of a cheering crowd.</p>
<p>Cantrell led the polls throughout her campaign leaving her opponent judge Desiree Charbonnet no choice but to concede.</p>
<p>Next year marks the 300-year anniversary of the City of New Orleans which makes this win that much more sweet!</p>
