News broke earlier this morning that Miami Beach Police responded to a call about a possible shooting at the home of LIl Wayne. It has now been confirmed the the shooting has been another case of “swatting”.
For all who don’t know, according to the Urban Dictionary, swatting is when a prank caller tricks 911 systems into deploying police officials or SWAT team to unsuspecting victim’s home under false pretenses.
The caller had told police that there were four people shot at the Young Money rapper’s home, fortunately Wayne was not home when police had arrived. It is the second time police have been called to his home in two weeks as a suspicious person was reported lurking around his home previously.
Lil Wayne took to his Twitter to confirm that it was an actual prank.
Many celebrities have been a victim of swatting, most recently Diddy’s babymama, Kim Porter’s LA home was visited by police when a call came in about a disturbing letter found on her doorstep that was a death threat as well as gunshots. When the police left another call came in saying there was a report of gun shots and that the house was on fire, fortunately that was also a prank!
People need to find a better hobby!
