<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">As folks continue to wait on updates about <a href="https://dev.theshaderoom.com/u-s-embassy-provides-update-on-brittney-griner-and-says-shes-in-good-condition/">Brittney Griner&#8217;s recent arrest</a>, WNBA legend Lisa Leslie is speaking out, and what she says may be a shocker to some. During an upcoming episode of &#8216;I Am Athlete, &#8216; Lisa claims she and other WNBA players were advised not to make a &#8220;big fuss&#8221; about the situation.</span><span style="font-weight: 400;"> &#8220;What we were told, and again this is all sort of passed along through hearsay, but what we were told was not to make a big fuss about it,&#8221; she said. &#8220;So that they could not use her as a pawn, so to speak, in this situation in the war. So, to make it like it&#8217;s not that important or don&#8217;t make it where we&#8217;re like, &#8216;Free Brittney&#8217; and we start this campaign, and then it becomes something that they can use.&#8221;</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Lisa continued explaining how she talks about Brittney&#8217;s arrest with NBA all-star Dawn Staley and other people she&#8217;s close with daily. &#8220;We&#8217;re just like &#8216;Dang, what&#8217;s she doing now? Do you think they cut off her hair? Does she have a bed long enough to fit in?'&#8221; Lisa didn&#8217;t reveal who the source was and whether she knew who initially shared the information, it didn&#8217;t prevent her from speaking on the situation. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Many people have voiced their opinion about Brittney&#8217;s arrest, including Syracuse University&#8217;s associate professor of journalism Aileen Gallagher. According to NPR, Aileen stated, &#8220;It is absurd this isn&#8217;t a huge story&#8221; dominating the airwaves as well as the front pages of America&#8217;s largest newspapers.&#8221; She added, &#8220;It is a clear domestic connection to the biggest story in the world right now that also involves an athlete who is considered one of the best to ever play the game.&#8221;</span></p>
