<p data-pm-slice="1 1 []">Roommates, <a href="https://dev.theshaderoom.com/draya-michele-wants-to-play-diamond-in-potential-the-players-club-joseline-hernandez-also-wants-a-shot/">Draya Michele</a> caused an intense online debate recently when she stated that if a remake of the classic 90s film “The Players Club” ever happens, she’s ready to step up to the plate in the lead role. Fast forward and LisaRaye, who played the lead role of “Diamond” in the film has finally responded with her opinion on who could recreate the character she made famous.</p>
<p>Late last month, Draya Michele <a class="ProsemirrorEditor-link" href="https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&;rct=j&;q=&;esrc=s&;source=newssearch&;cd=&;cad=rja&;uact=8&;ved=0ahUKEwi6jd6ItpPvAhWPZM0KHSYEAqgQxfQBCDMwAA&;url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.hot97.com%2Fhip-hop-news%2Fhot-news%2Flisaraye-mccoy-gives-the-real-reason-she-doesnt-want-draya-michele-playing-dimond-in-a-players-club-remake%2F&;usg=AOvVaw3bXk_xCMyGVStv5cNN7o0x">posted a picture</a> of the cast of “The Players Club” with the film’s star, LisaRaye, right in the middle. Her reasoning was to let everyone know that she is committed to securing the role of “Diamond” should a remake ever be made.</p>
<p>She captioned the photo, writing “This could be me in a reboot but y’all playing @icecube.” To give fans a closer look at what she meant, she posted a side-by-side photo of herself next to LisaRaye, both wearing the pink negligee that “Diamond” wore when she first hits the stage to dance for the first time.</p>
<p>Obviously getting wind of Draya’s intense desire to bring “Diamond” and “The Players Club” to a new generation, LisaRaye commented during a recent episode of the FOX Soul talk show “Cocktails With Queens,” saying that she has acted with Draya in the past and appreciated her dressing up as the character last Halloween. Ultimately, she said she would prefer an unknown actress to take on the role to remove the pressure from someone who is already well-known.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, Joseline Hernandez inserted herself into the conversation and said that she would also like to play “Diamond,” but LisaRaye said that while she loves Joseline, she can’t see her in the role.</p>
