<p>At the 2022 People&#8217;s Choice Awards, <a href="https://dev.theshaderoom.com/lizzo-claps-back-at-fan-who-asks-what-if-someone-wears-a-fat-suit-after-she-dresses-as-chrisean-rock/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Lizzo</a> walked away with quite the honor: the &#8220;People&#8217;s Champion Award!&#8221; Additionally, the &#8220;Rumors&#8221; singer received the award from none other than her mother, Shari Johnson-Jefferson.</p>
<h3 style="text-align: center;">17 Activists Get A Shoutout From The People&#8217;s Champ</h3>
<p>While introducing her daughter to the stage, <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2022/12/07/entertainment/lizzo-peoples-choice/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Shari</a> proudly noted that Lizzo “has shown us all that we don’t have to conform to anyone’s standards in order to be happy.&#8221;</p>
<p>Upon being welcomed and receiving the honor, Lizzo went on to give a brief personal acknowledgement before sharing the spotlight with other change-makers.</p>

<p>She then proceeded to welcome 17 activists to the stage, including Shirley Raines, Amariyanna Copeny (aka Little Miss Flint), and Tamika Palmer—Breonna Taylor&#8217;s mother.</p>
<p>One by one, Lizzo went through and gave a brief description of all the activists&#8217; causes, showing she truly wanted to honor real-life champions for the people. Eventually, she wrapped up by exclaiming, &#8220;Power will always be to the people!&#8221;</p>

<p>At this point, we should add that reports began surfacing last month that Lizzo would receive the honor. According to <a href="https://variety.com/2022/tv/news/lizzo-to-receive-the-peoples-champion-award-2022-peoples-choice-awards-tv-news-roundup-1235430871/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><em>Variety</em></a>, Cassandra Tryon—a higher-up at NBCUniversal Television and Streaming—explained the decision by praising Lizzo&#8217;s advocacy.</p>

<h3 style="text-align: center;">Lizzo Was Just Recognized As TikTok&#8217;s Top Hitmaker Of 2022</h3>
<p>Lizzo notably received the People&#8217;s Champion Award on the very same day that TikTok presented her with an honor of its own.</p>
<p>As <a href="https://dev.theshaderoom.com/iktr-lizzo-is-tiktoks-top-hitmaker-of-2022/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><em>The Shade Room</em></a> previously reported, the social media platform named Lizzo its #1 &#8220;Hitmaker&#8221; of the year. Other stars who received a shoutout in the category include Bad Bunny, Doja Cat, and Selena Gomez, while artists like Ice Spice, GloRilla, and Muni Long were included in the &#8220;Emerging Artists&#8221; section.</p>
