#Roommates, the wait is finally over, as the 2021 Emmy nominations have finally been announced! After sending shockwaves through the Internet following its abrupt cancellation, HBO’s ‘Lovecraft Country’ was one of the biggest success stories this year, racking up a whopping 18 nominations. Critically-acclaimed shows like ‘Pose,’ ‘Bridgerton,’ ‘Black-ish’ and ‘This Is Us’ also earned multiple nominations.

While several of the 2021 Emmy nominees are being discussed, arguably none are getting as much attention as ‘Lovecraft Country’ due to its inspiring comeback story. Earlier this month, fans of the show were devastated to learn of the show’s unexpected cancellation—but now a well-earned 18 nominations definitely make the unfortunate news of the show’s end a little bit easier to accept. Of the show’s nominations, Jurnee Smollett earned a nomination for Lead Actress In A Drama Series, Jonathan Majors for Lead Actor In A Drama Series, Outstanding Drama Series, and Courtney B. Vance for Outstanding Guest Actor.

After officially ending its three-season run, FX’s Emmy-winning LGBTQ+ series ‘Pose’ also earned nominations for series stars Billy Porter and MJ Rodriguez for Lead Actor and Lead Actress In A Drama Series. Meanwhile, Netflix’s massive hit period drama ‘Bridgerton’ racked up a dozen nominations of its own, including Lead Actor In A Drama Series for Rege-Jean Page and Outstanding Drama Series. Tracee Ellis Ross and Anthony Anderson once again received nominations for Lead Actress and Lead Actor for their roles on ABC’s ‘Black-ish,’ which will end its run with its final season this fall. Emmy winner Sterling K. Brown also received another nomination for his role on NBC’s hit family drama ‘This Is Us.’

Elsewhere, the #BlackExcellence was also shining on other stars who earned Emmy nominations, including Michaela Coel for HBO’s ‘I May Destroy You,’ Cynthia Erivo for the National Geographic anthology series ‘Aretha,’ Leslie Odom Jr. for ‘Hamilton’ and the legendary Phylicia Rashad for her guest appearance on ‘This Is Us.’ You can check the full list of nominees here.

The 2021 Emmy Awards will be hosted by Cedric The Entertainer with a limited, in-person audience. The show will air on September 19th at 8 PM EST on CBS.
