Mary J. Blige definitely knows how to get to the bag. Whether, it’s through her music, on-screen or even behind the scenes. Now she’ll be teaming up with Lionsgate after signing a first look television deal with the company.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Mary will develop and produce series through her newly launched production company Blue Butterfly. The deal also includes a component where Mary can create content for the studio’s multiple platforms.
She expressed her excitement for the deal and said, “I couldn’t be more excited to be working with Lionsgate. They are incredible collaborators and have been natural partners from when we first started talking. I can’t wait to bring all of our projects to life.”
Aside from being our Queen of Hip-Hop and Soul, Mary has been killing it on our screens with her acting skills over the years. She currently stars on the Netflix series “The Umbrella Academy,” and in 2017 she earned an Oscar nomination for her role in “Mudbound.”
